strap on reel seat

I am using a strap or clamp on reel seat for the first time and don't know whether to epoxy the bottom of the reel seat to the base that I created? I am not convinced that it will stay on secure if I don't epoxy the bottom when I pull it down and wrap it on. Thanks for your help.

Robert,
If I were doing it, I would simply tape it on with electrical tape and call it good.
Many many many many reels are simply taped to a rod handle and seldom fail.
Keep a spare roll of tape in your tackle box, and if you find that the tape is working loose, simply peel of any loose tape and add fresh tape.
Simple, easy and very very light.

A tennessee handle of solid cork with no reel seat or other fastners is much lighter than a conventional reel seat and typically as or more comfortable.
Really no need to groove, flatter or do anything else with the cork handle. The bottom of the reel seat is typically curved and will sit very nicely on the round unmodified handle of a common tennessee style rod handle.

Take care
Roger

Another thing you can use is clear and colored shrink tubing. Since all my tennessee handles are made of graphite or tubing this really works well. Makes a very nice looking locking device and doesn't detract from the looks of the rod.

Robert,

Are you talking about a "Plate Seat'? If so, no need to glue it if it's wrapped correctly. I've got one wrapped in "D" on a 30-60lb 10' jig stick that can see hundreds of casts and dozens of fish per day. The first time I ever used it, I even forgot the reel clamp and the plate seat still didn't budge.
