Does anyone know if this stuff is available in larger containers than the 2 oz size?
Anyone happen to know what it actually is? I do know it's water soluble until it dries, and has no odor. I've started to use it more and more because it seems to help keep the cork clean and allow it to be washed up better. When I get real busy, I go through the stuff pretty fast and it isn't cheap buying it in 2 oz containers. Re: Cork Seal

Why not contact Trondak on the left and find out if you can purchase larger amounts? Re: Cork Seal

I'll give it a try, maybe even buying it in case quantities would work.
What sort of shelf life does it have? Re: Cork Seal

Joe,
It's Cork Seal - nothing else. Trondak doesn't just repackage standard products and relabel them. Ralph O'Quinn formulates each Trondak product for the specific purpose at hand. The company buys base chemicals and compounds and then do their own formulating and blending. Their products are their own and not relabeled products bought elsewhere. Therefore, Cork Seal isn't going to be something like Thompson's Water Seal in a relabeled bottle. ................. Re: Cork Seal

Joe how are you applying it? How many coats?
I would not want a larger bottle - keep the properly sealed - an extra unopened in shop at all times - when I completely use a bottle I open the spare and reorder to insure fresh product. The worst thing about Cork Seal is when I get careless - do not replace the foil and cap and knock it over and spill. I have not found a replacement - I quit looking - I can do about 50 - 60 bass or inshore rods with one of the small bottles.- longest cork section 10 inches (regular and split) and no foregrips. One coat only - apply with finger our of bottle - keep the foil cover in place and close immediately. Re: Cork Seal

Actually Tom,
There are FAR better cork sealants out there than Trondak's. Namely the one's that duck carvers use. They are considerably less expensive as well. I've often had to sand and recoat grips that had the Trondak Cork Seal after only marginal use on the water. Since I've switched to the stuff duck carvers use, I've ended up with a much more durable sealant. I understand your loyalty to the sponsors, but sometimes there simply are better things available than what they can provide. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
