Single foot vs. snake guides

I just picked up a Sage TXL 3710-3 blank. I'm considering using REC Recoil single foot guides. Sage uses light wire snake guides on the rod and lists the guide number and sizes as: 5 - 2/0's, followed by 1 each of size 1/0, 1, 2, & 6 as a stripper guide. The smallest Recoil SF guide from REC is Size 1. So with SF's the rod would have 5 - 1's, one each of 2, 3, 4, and 6 as a stripper. What do you think? Is a SF size 1 roughly equivalent to 2/0 snake in size (diameter of the opening) and weight? Has anyone built one with SF guides and/or REC Recoils?
Also, any ideas on thread colors and trim colors for the rod. Thanks for your help. Re: Single foot vs. snake guides

I would think that the ones would work just fine. I like the fact that there will be 1/2 the threat work and epoxi on a rod that small. Go for it. Re: Single foot vs. snake guides

Tom,
I only build with REC s/f recoils. REC s/f are slightly lighter than REC snakes for the same size. I weighed them on my digital scale. However the snakes, because of the "side-door" effect are slightly larger. But in a straight line the guide sizes are the same. I would go with the REC's. For that weight rod I MIGHT consider the REC light wire s/f guides vs the heavy wire. Best to call Dan Lanier at REC for his advice. Regards, Herb Re: Single foot vs. snake guides

Larry & Herb. Thanks for the info. I believe REC makes two gauges of SF recoil guides, the RSF (light duty/ freshwater) and the RSFX (heavy duty / Saltwater). Am I correct on that? Here is a link to REC:
[www.reelseats.com] On a 3wt fly rod, I will use of course use the RSF in the smallest sizes available. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
