not sure if appropriate to ask here but since several of you have mentioned these reels & pflueger can't answer... which size reels are good for bonefish. looking for best choice for a 6 wt and an 8wt each with 150-200 yds of powerpro 40lb backing. thx and apols if this is off topic.

You want the maximum retrieve ratio which comes from the spool diameter (not the spool arbor) when completely filled to capacity.
For a 9 foot rod, I'd probably use nothing less than what they call their PFL1990. Don't skimp by using a predetermined amount of backing - fill the spool to capacity. And I'd use that same reel for either line you mention. When used with the 6-weight line, you'll want to install more backing. You could easily buy an extra spool and have 2 different set ups at very little money. ............ Re: pflueger trion reels

I use that model on my 7, 8, and 9 wt's. Wen to the the larger presidential for my 12wt. They have worked flawlessly for me in the salt that I almost exclusively fish now. For my go to rod on the flats for red fish, a dan craft ft 5wt, i use a lighter reel that better balances the lighter outfit.
But, for the price and performance the trion has been my favorite. Re: pflueger trion reels

The 1990 is nice, I don't know about all day comfort using a heavy reel on the 6wt rod, it all depends on balance. If you shop around you can get a deal on that reel and a spool. I only paid $80 for the reel and a spare spool when I found them on sale. Re: pflueger trion reels
