Want Gold Ink for writting on Rods

I use a pen with a fine nib to write on fly rods and wondered if there is a good source for gold ink? I have a great bottle of silver that flows nice but I have yet to find a good gold ink. It seems that the gold I have tried has really course pigment. I have tried decals and if I plan ahead I can get them made but I like the pen and ink look. Any suggestions out there?

Have you tried Testor's model enamel? I haven't used the gold, but I use aluminum and silver, and they work great with a nib pen.

I'll second what George said, I tried inks and pens, but the nib in the testors metallic paint has worked the best so far.

Will,
I have tried everything - finally got something I like:
"Dr. Ph. Martin's" calligraphy colors #11R. Copper Plate Gold. It was $5.00

I will email you a pic of results later - after I get home from the gym. Best if you seal with a light coat onn CP before covering with thread finish. I also use a good quality pen nib.

Jann's Netcraft has gold ink for this very purpose. It works well.

I use the Dr. P.H. Martins ink as well. I prefer their Iridescent colors. These are mixable so you can come up with many different colors. Thin with denatured alcohol. They have reformulated this ink, and the new stuff flows great from the pen. I use to use the Testors paints and they work very well. The Iridescent ink actually glows when it is in the sun light.

Have found various brands of acrylic artists ink to work better than anything else, at least for me. A few of them are "FW.", "Permanence", and "Speedball" all found at art supply stores.
