For the users of the newer Shimano spinning reels that are having problems with"backlash or whatever"
Look in the bottom of the box that contains that little booklet of Instructions that nobody reads. You will find a section on the installation of "shims" that are installed on the shaft behind the spool. These little devils are added or removed to change the "stack angle of the line on the spool for various lines" . The booklet explains why this is important. Re: Wind knots

Very nice Tony. I'm not even gonna try and keep up.
The reel I mentioned doesn't help any with backlashes or bird nesting when it's caused by the guides, but the guides usually aren't the culprit with a spinning rig. It's the loops on the spool as mentioned earlier. There's nothing special about the reel, but the spool I believe to be a huge innovation. I figured it would roust some interest, being yet another line control measure, given the amount of discussion on friction, speed, oscillation, micros, etc. Lots of Interesting stuff going on.
