I am looking for something like a 12ft, 2pc, Surf Med Action, 15-40 lbs line, 3-8 oz,. This is a heavy surf rod that needs to carry about 250+ yds of 80lb braid line. We use a 12/0 treble hook with 5oz weight. For casting and snagging BIG Spoonbill in Oklahoma up to 60-80lbs. I need a rod that has a butt diameter of about 1.190in/30.23mm. So it' needs to be pretty stoute! I would like to find something comparable in the range of 12-14ft and maybe heavier and about the same diameter etc. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated- Thanks

I don't have a catalog in front of me, but if I were you, I'd look at a fiberglass blank. It will be much cheaper, and will be very, very durable, and very strong. And the weight - glass is heavier than graphite -- seems like it won't matter that much with the kind of fishing you'll be doing.
If you can go with a one-piece, and 11'4" is not too short, Lamiglas' SB1363M might be a good fit. Rainshadow may have one too -- I'd check their catalog as well. Good luck. Re: Surf Rod Suggestion
