Nothing special you should do. I have put Flex Coat and/or Thread Master right over the ATC decal with no problems. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Finish over peel and stick labels

If you are eating hot boudin, fried chicken or hot tamales wash your hands before you press it in place with your fingers or use a clean paper towell. Re: Finish over peel and stick labels

If you want it perfect the first time and EVERY time, install the decal, lightly spray 2-3 LIGHT coats of krylon Fixatif, let that cure overnight and coat with any thread finish with no worry's.

DON'T USE YOUR FINGERS TO PEEL THE STICKER OFF THE BACKING, even on the edge.
I use tweezers now to peel and apply and have had no more problems. It's a little harder to position this way but you won't get edge lift (on the edge you handled) I used to alway have the edge I handled lift after applying the flex coat. I applied it directly, no CP or other. Re: Finish over peel and stick labels

The Peel & Stick Decals are in some cases much easier than the waterslide as for one, they don't have to dry before application of the epoxy!!!
However, just simply applying the peel & stick to the rod and then applying the finish is not the best method for this style of decal. Also as you stated, the quality of the decal material is of the greatest importance. After the peel & stick decal is properly position as desired, the decal must then be "brayered" to the blank. This is done with a hard rubber roller,(brayer), or a wallpaper seam roller. This ensures that the decal is perfectly flat to the blank and the adhesive layer all but disappears. Without doing this, I feel the odds increase that the peel & stick decal will be visable and definitely not properly installed. Then just epoxy over the decal as usual. Charlie abalone decals
