Carbon Fiber/EVA Grips

How does Carbon Fiber with a foam core compare to EVA. Obviously it is more expensive, but how does it compare in weight? Is it slippery when wet? Thanks

I have made several composite/carbon fiber grips they seem to be lighter than eva but i have not actually weighed them to confirm this. i also have not noticed them to be more slipery when wet. from what i have noticed fish slime seems to slide off the composite grips better than cork and EVA. i will try to pay closer attention next time i am out and see if i notice any differance.

They are lighter. No, they are no more slippery than a smooth, varnished hammer handle. I'm sure you've used a hammer at some point in your life. Were you able to hang onto it easily? You'll find the smooth carbon fiber skinned grips to be the same way. In fact, they are probably the "grippiest" handles available today. Get a running start and dive onto a varnished hardwood basketball court floor sometime. If you don't already know - you won't slide at all. You'll come to a very quick, and somewhat painful, stop.

As Tom said, they're lighter and have an excellent grip. If you make the initial investment for supplies to pour your own then the cost per grip can work out to be much less than EVA; my last $60 worth of foam and sleeves has made over 50 grips and I've just mixed up the last of my foam into a block that I can cut and shape into a few more.

Sleeved Foam has design possabilities and applications that I think are much greater than EVA...
