I bought one of these seats for a batson ic847-3 to be built as a spinning rod. 12-25 line. plan to use it with a 4000 size shimano reel.
Is this too light a seat for a general inshore reel seat? Without arbors it has a little flex at the ends. Also, it is labeled size 20 inside diameter but I measure it at over 21 (size 20 arbors fall right thru) is this typical in sizing for these seats? Can I beef up my size 20 arbors with a little fiberglass tape or am I better of buying bigger arbors and sanding them down? thx Jay Re: fuji nps reel seat for peacock bass rod?

It's plenty strong enough. The inside of the Fuji seats are 1/2mm larger than the listed size. Your seat has an inside diameter of 20.5mm.
This is done because the maker does not feel that each builder will get a perfect fit to the rod blank so a half mm is allowed for slightly imperfect fits. You can turn down some size 22 arbors for a perfect fit or go with the 20's. .......... Re: fuji nps reel seat for peacock bass rod?

Jay -
As Tom stated, they are PLENTY strong enough. I use the #20 DNPSD seats for tarpon rods ... 50# class. They are a great choice in an uplocking position, IMO. They keep the reel foot very firmly seated. Jim - Re: fuji nps reel seat for peacock bass rod?

Shorten the barrel end about 3/4 inch. Makes it a little bigger in the OD, fits the rear grip better. That's what I do anyway.
