Two requests from a newbie.......
1) Can anybody give me a quick tutorial on what the differences are in fishing rods? For instance, what exactly is a spin jig / mag bass / blend(ed) blank fishing rod? Until coming here, I was only used to the "baitcaster" and "spinning" rods. Are there any more other than the spin jig, mag bass, and blended? 2) I would like to build a shaky head rod. What would you recommend for a blank? Tony Tony Wilson Cincinnati Ohio Re: Rod Classifications & Rod Reco

For a shaky head rod you want a blank between 6’6†and 7’ with an extra fast action and a lower lure rating around 1/8 – 3/16oz.
It sounds like you are looking at MHX blanks, their best shaky head blanks are a little hidden within their ratings. The SB811 or SB812 are excellent blanks for this application, the other blanks that should be excellent are the new popping blanks. The MHX popping blanks are designed like the Lamiglas XMG popping blanks and are extra fast action with very light tips, not at all like most other blanks called popping blanks which are quite moderate actions. I will take answers to both questions. :-) I am really confused about the blank descriptions, and I really want to build a shaky head rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
