Anyone know of a cork supplier? I'm looking for a block or a turning blank of high quality solid cork. I've found some made from burl cork and some rubberized but nothing in solid cork. I'm thinking maybe an exotic wood supplier would have some but nothing found yet.
thanks Mike Re: Another cork question

I have never seen solid cork in blocks. As it is a tree bark, I'm not sure there are sources with cork thick enough to create blocks. If you find some let the rest of us know. Re: Another cork question

Mike,
Cork as we know it is the bark of the cork tree. There is virtually no cork available that is much thicker than about 1/2-3/4 inch. This is simply because that is how thick the cork bark is as it is harvested. Having said that, you can go to the portugal suppliers and buy cork planks that have been flattened and dried. Then, if you want to turn a block, you simply take the planks, cut them to size, and glue them together as you would for other types of wood that aren't available in large blocks. Most of todays larger lumber turned pieces are made of multiple pieces of lumber that have been glued together. Take care Roger Re: Another cork question

Roger,
Can you say where you get the cork plank from? I've searched many times and only come up with ground/treated/composite flooring planks. Thanks, Jason Cosby Cos Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
