Looking for old BassMaster issue

In the early 1970's BassMaster Magazine ran an article on custom rod building, specifically for a baitcasting rod made with a Featherweight Champion pistol grip handle and a specific Eagle Claw rod blank. I remember the article but not the author. I would like to try and get a copy for inclusion in the Expo slide show on historical aspects of the craft.

If anyone has that issue, please contact me at rodmaker@earthlink.net. Thanks.

Tom, I'm a life member of B.A.S.S. and I still have early issues dating back to NOV/DEC 1975. Unfortunately I just gave all of my past issues (except for my first eight issues) to one of the shopkeepers.Thats how I got into rodbuilding in the first place. After reading an article about how the pros use a slew of rods for different baits and presentations of them, I decided the only sure way to get what I needed was to build it myself, and since 1976 thats what I've been doing. Before I became life member I did'nt always renew in the late 70's early 80's, BASS was growing and did'nt always have the content I expected but, I always came back. So, it might have been at those times I did'nt receive it but I dont ever remember an article of building casting rods. If you find out what issue it was in I can ask the shopkeeper to check what I gave him. He saves BASS, FishinFacts, & InFisherman mags.

Tom

Have you checked with public or university libraries in your area? They may have the magazines in their archives, or a micro or scanned version of them.

Another possibility would be to post a request on a bass fishing oriented board like bassboatcentral, etc.

Good luck!

Tom, if you go to the Bass home page and click on Bass Insider, you can sign up for a free 30 trial membership. There you can access over 130 archived digital copies of Bass Master magazine. If you decide to keep the membership it's 24.00 per year.

Once I look at them I wouldn't cancel the membership. Wouldn't be fair.

Tom

I have a collection of old issues dating back to sometime in the '70s. I'll look through them this weekend and see if I have the issue you're looking for.

I'm looking for an old Bassmaster from early 80s. Maybe 82'? that has an article about bass fishing oxbows. I need it bad! If anyone knows how to get a hold of it let me know.
