Decals

Here goes again. i have purchased water slide paper and am going to make some decals with that. I have typed the customers name and some other stuff on the paper with my ink jet printer. I have sprayed it with a clear sealer and let it set for a while in the mean time i have put a coat of epoxy on the area of the rod i;ll place the decal. I then coated the decal with Micro sol two coats. In 24 hours i will out Micro set on the spot where the decal goes. I will soak my decal until it is ready to come off. Then i will ease it onto the right spot and after it dries i will put the finishing coat on the decal.
I will take advise and tips from anyone especially if you see that i am messing up.
Thanks
Paul

The only thing I'd advise is not soaking the decal. Generally leaving the decal or water slide material in water for more than about 5 seconds is a mistake - it removes all the adhesive from the back of the decal and you'll end up with a cloudy appearing decal. Just submerge the decal for about 5 seconds.

I believe the Decal Connection website has an article that Jimi Ellis wrote about decal application. Give it a read. Might save you a headache.

You can also put several drops of waterslide decal setting solution on the spot on the rod where the decal is intended to go. This allows you to slide the decal into the perfect position and will "shrink" the decal but you will not notice it on the smooth surface of the rod. This is how model makers get waterslide decals in the proper positions and to fit snuggly over the details of models such as the door panels, etc. on model trains as an example.
