Josh,
You asked in the previous post about high modulus blanks. Painting a blank is a good way to throw away a lot of the advantages of the high modulus.

Josh,

Yes, blanks can be painted and there is a lot of information on this site (use the seach feature).
You may want to get a few builds under your belt before you dive in that deeply, however. There are a LOT of skills to learn and perfect, and throwning too many things into the mix at an early stage just adds complication that you don't need.

Keep the enthusiasm, however. All of your creative tendencies can be expressed as you go along. Take a look at the Photo pages to get an idea of the possibilities. Subscribe to Rod Maker magazine for even more ideas.

Josh,
Take some time and read more. You can find answers to nearly all of your questions using the search button. Your new at this and I understand your curiosity, but you'll be much better off searching and reading what you find. Not only will you get most of your questions answered, but you also get answers to many of the questions you haven't though of yet.

Take Care,
Robert

Josh,
Emory is correct. Paint weighs a lot. It increases the weight of a blank up to 7%. Sounds like a little bit but you can really feel it in the tip area.
I only purchase unpainted blanks.

I use Krylon Fusion with great success for the color and a good coat of Spar Urethane as a clear coat. Haven't had any complaints yet.
