I need a 9 ft, 4wt, 4 piece travel flyrod blank and since I mostly do bass rods, I dont have a lot of experience with fly rods.
It would mostly be used for trout in relatively small streams and rivers. I need something in the less than $100 category. This is for me not a customer. What do you recommend I build? Re: Need Fly Blank

Dave,
the American Tackle Matrix "AMF904-4" blank would be a good choice for you and be well under your price point. [www.mudhole.com] Regards, Todd Regards, Todd Vivian Mud Hole Custom Tackle todd@mudhole.com Re: Need Fly Blank

Batson RX-7 is also a good choice. I built a 9ft 4wt for a friend and its a really decent preforming rod. Works very well for dry's and pretty decent at short line nymphing with an indicator. He uses a 5wt line for days when casts will be short and a 4wt on the bigger water where longer casts maybe necessary. Re: Need Fly Blank

If you're willing to drop to 8'6" the Cabela's PT+ is a very nice casting blank also available in kit form.
Another good choice would be the St Croix SCIII for a little more $$$ also available in kit from Mud Hole. Eugene Moore Re: Need Fly Blank

You could also try the Batson RX6 Forecast blanks. They are slower than the RX7 but the prices are quite low and the quality is excellent. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
