Gotta ask

Rather than searching through the threads, I'm going to take the shortcut and just ask y'all:

I'm looking for a 'fast' 3wt, 8ft-8.5ft. graphite fly blank, for less than $150. Spring creek trout tool. I don't want a noodly, soft stick. Need something that has a little backbone to stand up to a little breeze/wind. Any suggestions before I make a random choice? Thanks in advance.

Should have added:

It's not going to be my primary rod. Just an 'occasional' rod that I'll carry along for when the mood suits me.

Call Dan. He can help you find what you need and/or let you know when he expects to get the blanks in.

I'm another Batson fan. Excellent blanks and probably the best bang for your buck on the market today.

cheers

The 3wt. 4pc. Rainshadow RX7 was my first project. I stll use it all the time even though I see all my newbee mistakes on it. Great value rod.

Just built a 4wt 8'-6" RX7 from batson. It is much nicer than my TFO Pro series 8'-6" i was currently using (still very nice). You can shoot line no problems. I am almost finished with an RX7+ of the same length and weight i think this rod (just from playing around with the blank so far) is gonna be super smooth and just a hair faster. we'll see. I also built one a rainforest II (IM7 from Pac Bay) and it is almost exactly like the RX7. All very Nice med/fast actions. I fish small spring creeks in wisconsin almost exclusively, so I know lighter weight rods and small creek conditions very well. Good luck!!

Turns out we're fishing the same waters Larry. I frequent the SW Wisconsin spring creeks also, so I'm going to have to give your recommendation high regard. I'm leaning toward the RX7. Thanks.
