I see that @#$%& has some new "Hard Compound EVA" grip material that looks interesting.
I was never a fan of the really soft EVA, and was wondering what the impressions are of the harder grips, and is it simply harder or is it more dense and consequently heavier than standard EVA? Dan Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/18/2010 10:11PM by Dan Ertz. Re: Hard Compound EVA?

I don't know exactly what @#$%& has. I do nknow there are diffrent densities of EVA, and if tehy are sellign the stuff from Batson, and it's teh same as the stuff I got from them a while back - it is extremely hard. Not heavy at all, and much harder to instal, you almost need to ream it to fit like cork. Good stuff if you are lookign for hard EVA. Re: Hard Compound EVA?

I have not handled the EVA from Batson, but I have worked with the Acid Rod EVA and will second what Billy says-I personaly prefer hard EVA when I'm not using cork. Re: Hard Compound EVA?

I have used a couple of the split grip hard EVA casting grips that Swampland sells. I think they feel great on a casting rod. I like it as well as cork. They look good with Aluminum trim rings also. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Hard Compound EVA?

Thanks for the replies. The grips sound good, and I'll keep them in mind for future builds.

Dan,
Our hard EVA grips are lightweight, but machine like cork rather than like soft EVA. I use Flex Coat Pilot Bits to bore them and regular cork reamers to ream them. They don't clog up tooling like the softer grips do. Mark Griffin [] C&M Custom Tackle San Dimas, California Re: Hard Compound EVA?

Mark,
The "hard EVA" grips caught my eye on your "New Items" page - along with a lot of other good stuff! It sounds like the new grips have a good feel to them, and I would guess that they're lighter than cork? Thanks. Dan Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
