Anyone with any experience makeing labels for rods useing the Brothers P-Touch label machine? I think that I have seen it mentioned on the forum before, but could not come up with much with a search.

It's OK, and get's the job done. The hand held units don't have a realy high resolution, but the lettering is decent. The material is a little stiff, and likes to lift off smaller diameter blanks.

Play with it and you can get pretty nice rod spec. labels. I would recomend wrapping thread over the label and leaving it for a day to really help adhesion.

I have switched to the inkjet method with white vinyl material per RodMaker article - it blows away the Brother.

We have one also. On smaller blanks, wrap clear thread over the label, then cover with epoxy. The edges will lift on smaller rod blanks, as Marc said.
The water slides work better.

Larry,
Been there done that waterslide the only way to go. To many issues with the material lifting once epoxied.

Larry,

I've used my P-touch throughout the years for misc labels, but nothing compares to the finished look of a waterslide decal IMO. The edge of the PTouch label is very visible and a big turn off for me. I've never had any problems getting the P-touch labels to lay down that some others mentioned; good burnishing should take care of that.
