Fastest cure method for Permagloss?

Normally I let PG cure about 5 days before letting the rod out to be used.
However, I need to have PG cure in 48 hours for a relatively urgent project where it'll be used in rain and such. Is that possible? Does putting it in a warm curing box speed up the cure process if there's good humidity in there? (Say about 100 degrees farenheit.) Thanks, Mo Re: Fastest cure method for Permagloss?

Mo,
As I recall humidity is the key more than heat. Re: Fastest cure method for Permagloss?

Put a steaming tea kettle in the room to raise the humidity. Repeat a few times to get some moisture in the air.

Thanks. was already going to do the steamer route. Does temperature of the environment speed up the reaction?
Thanks, Mo Re: Fastest cure method for Permagloss?

According to the directions on the bottle, you apply 2-4 coats, one hour apart. After 24 hours, the rod is useable. I used to wait a day between coats, but just tried it as directed on the bottle, and it worked great. And I live in Colroado, where humidity is rare. Re: Fastest cure method for Permagloss?

Temperature does not play a large role, but you would not want the room extremely cold.

A pan of water in the hot box should help to add moisture
Or maybe spraying the inside wallsof the box - not the rod- with a find mist of water. Bill - willierods.com Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 01/17/2010 09:46AM by bill boettcher. Re: Fastest cure method for Permagloss?
