I was fortunate enought to get samples of titanium tangle free micros -

Loved them - they had all the things I was looking for.

Tunnel

Angle of repose to shed wind knots

Dual riser to keep braid line movement over top of frame.

Spade Foot

Groove for Forhan lockin ramp for improved pull out resistance -

Perfect sez I !

Sent them out with a Bubba on an eight foot crank launcher!

Came back one week later with two guides snapped off!

How did that happen says I!

Seez He:

When I got the rod I noticed the guides were bent down towards the blank! I only straightened them up two or three times with my thumb and they just popped!

Fuji done good - but Bubba will break anything!

I've just spent most of this evening playing around with a couple of sets that I already have from Mudhole. They are indeed beauriful. I have the double footed (TKWAG) and the single micros (TKTAG). I have a few projects coming up with some inshore casting/spinning rods and some fly rods. they are beautiffully finished right down to the feathered/chamfered feet. They have fluted legs that add to their strength, are a heavier wire than the TLNSG series and a very attractive design-so I think they are even up to the task of adding some serious bling to some reasonably heavy stuff like heavy popping for GT's and tuna. One thing I thought about them is that the TKWAG could be really excellent for use as a stripper on fly rods, with the added benefit that they come in larger sizes than a 16mm of the TLNSG's. On #9wts and higher I prefer to use 20-25mm strippers. I will be putting them on as strippers on a #9,#10, and #12wt project that I will soon be building.

I have both the TKWSG and TKLSG series in house ... beautiful guides, no doubt. I am sure that you will see them at the show AND I would be willing to bet that you could preorder and take them home - no shipping at all.

I'd like to know how much heavier they single foot micros are than the regular TLSG micros. Anyone has a figure for size 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 and 6?

Thanks,
Mo

Greetings Matt,

THANKS for the data. Helpful.

Not sure if one bit of data makes sense:

TKTSG 4.5 weighs the same as the TLSG 4.0?

TKTSG has more frame material and larger ring - so not sure how it can weight the same as the TLSG 4.0?

Thanks,
Mo

Mo

Nice catch.

I tossed each one back on the scale and confirmed...

TKLSG 25 - 44 grains - 0.101 ounces
TKLSG 20 - 28.9 grains - 0.066 ounces
TKLSG 12 - 10.5 grains - 0.024 ounces

TKTSG 4.5 - 1.0 grains - 0.002 ounces

TYSG 25 - 45 grains - 0.103 ounces
TYSG 16 - 17.5 grains - 0.04 ounces
TYSG 12 - 10.10 grains - 0.023 ounces

TLSG 5 - 1.40 grains - 0.003 ounces
TLSG 4 - 0.80 grains - 0.002 ounces

And yes...the formula for the conversion to ounces...still rounds out to the same number...at 3 decimal places...

TLSG 4 - 0.80 grains - 0.0018 ounces
TKTSG 4.5 - 1.0 grains - 0.0023 ounces

Matt, thanks. Just checked in.

That is remarkable - the TKTSG seem to be basically about the same weight as the TLSG when accounting for size differential. With the stuff I build, tangles is almost never a problem but if they weigh the same, TKTSG makes sense...

I don't have any TKLSG as one of the vendor closer to me did not have any but I did pop to my shop to measure. The TLSG 4.0 came up to 0.71 grains. (Measured three) A TLSG 5.0 came to 1.29 grains. I used up the TLSG 4.5 so don't have those.

One final question for you. Is the TKTSG as tall as the TLSG, ring size for ring size?

Checking specs, I believe that the TKLSG are shorter than the TATSG single foots or I'll check into them too.

Thanks,
Mo

Mo

With a digital caliper...foot sitting flat on one jaw...to top of frame...

TLSG4 - 0.2055"
TLSG5 - 0.272"

TKTSG4.5 - 0.2325"

Shoot me an email in a couple weeks. I've got some #5's coming in.
