Rod Tip, any ideas?

Hello all, first post on this site. I have been a lurker for some time and finally joined. Great wealth of knowledge here !!!

My question is in regards to a BT 968s, I picked one up at a flea market and want to get get started on the build, only problem is the tip. For the most part it seems that if you go beyond a 24 tip you have to go roller which I dont want to. I did however find an old Mildrum stainless that would fit but I wanted to go Hardloy or SIC.

Has anyone had this problem with this particular blank or would know were I can aquire a size 30 tip in either SIC or Hardloy??

Thanks So Much

John

Ken actually wrote an article for us in the Volume 11 #2 issue of RodMaker that showed how to mount a standard casting guide as a tiptop. That way, you can get the ring size you want and fit the guide to any size blank tip.

In effect. you bend one foot to wrap under the blank, and leave one to wrap on top. It actually looks nice and works very well.
