I am planning on attending the rod expo in Feb. I have never been to an event like this before. I hope to gain volumes of knowledge first and foremost. I'm wondering if I will find deals on equipment and supplies. What I mean is should I plan on stocking up on blanks , guides etc.. or will the pricing be the same. Can I wheel and deal, should I have a wad of cash in my pocket.??? Re: question about the 2010 rod expo

You will find some of the best deals of the year there!!!!
you may or may not be able to "wheel and deal" as some of the stuff is priced so low that they would have to take a loss to sell it any cheaper, and they still need to pay for their booth space. Re: question about the 2010 rod expo

Mike, best part is you can see and feel the stuff before you purchase it. Prices are lower than usual on most items. Big difference is thee is no shipping charge which is what usually is the issue with a lot of orders. For those that fly in there is a shipper on the floor that can ship your entire days or weekends worth of purchases if it is not feasible to carry the items home. I can guaranty you it will be a trip worth its weight in gold. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: question about the 2010 rod expo

Yes to all your questions !
Where I save the most money is on shipping. I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to build throughout the year so I stock up on parts for those builds. I also have standing orders for particular rods that will wait until I get back just to save the customer about $20 for shipping. I will drive an SUV so I can easily haul 8 ft blanks. The Seminars are unreal ! You may have been building for 20 years and you may find out you have been doing some things wrong or the hard way for 20 years. You will be surprised at what you can learn. And hanging out downstairs at night,,,,,,I guarantee you will hear a joke you haven't heard before ! J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: question about the 2010 rod expo

Also, if you know there are certain things you want. contact your vendor ahead of time, place an order now, and they can have it waiting on you. Most are happy to oblige. Last year I picked up about 700 guides and 60 reel seats... saved me a ton on shipping alone. ----------------- AD Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
