With threads today about rod tip breakage and warranties, it brought to mind a factor in rod breakage that some customers may not be aware of.
Wind buffeting can break the tips of rods that are placed "tips forward" in tie-downs on decks of 70+ mph bass boats. Someone on another board had several of his "over the counter warranty" rods break their tips during a run down the lake, and was asked by a couple of members on the board "Were the tips pointed forward?" good one Dan... in addition, if you look with the "tips back" on shorter decks, go compare where rod tips break in relation to how they lie against the edge of the deck... even strapped down rods rattle and shake against that edge while on plane. ----------------- AD Re: Rod Tip Breakage & Bass Boats

And sometimes they just roll off the side when making a hard turn at high speed. (more then one personal experience). LOL Re: Rod Tip Breakage & Bass Boats

Good point Dan. Also when the tips are pointing backward, less chance for you to step on the tips on the front deck. Kyle Robinson Re: Rod Tip Breakage & Bass Boats

I'll bet the major factor in tip breakage on bass rods is highsticking though.
I cringe everytime I see one of those "bass pros" swing a fish on board or grab the blank 2 feet down from the tip to man handle the illusive bass onto their boat. Regards Dave Fishing is Life the rest is just Details Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
