Have a buddy who wants to build a rod for a cousin -- cousin fishes inshore ( Charleston area South Carolina) mostly for reds and my buddy knows he really likes his Shimano Crucial 7', but doesn't know if it's a medium/fast, or medium-heavy/fast. Regardless, does anyone know where Shimano gets their blanks, and/or what might be the closest blank to theirs in quality, construction, feel, etc?
Thanks. Bilgee Re: Shimano rod info

I thought it was built on a G Loomis blank, but may be wrong. Interesting to know... Kyle Robinson Re: Shimano rod info

Most of the Shimano rods are built on blanks sourced from the Orient.

The only rods Shimano had built at G Loomis I'm aware of was the V-Rods, maybe 10 years ago. Re: Shimano rod info

Thanks for the info. We were told be a big brand retailer in the fishing world that the top end, Crutial on up were G Loomis blanks, the lesser ones were imported from the orient somewhere.
This is not my thread, but I sure appreciate knowing the truth. Kyle Robinson Re: Shimano rod info

I've heard from a few people that Bass Pro Shops is saying that the upper end Shimanos are G Loomis blanks if it was true, or even if the blanks were US made you'd think they advertise the fact like they did the V-Rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
