Looking to learn (blanks)

Can anyone recommend something that I can read on blank technology? I want to learn more about the jargon, marketing and composition of blanks and some of the misconceptions that might go with the subject. For example, why are some "name brand" blanks much more expensive than some that you might find from the sponsors on the left? Are they really that much better? Just looking to fill in some of the holes in my knowledge and I did do a search in the site before asking. Many thanks.

Start with the glossary here on this site. Then try one of the rod building books out there that have chapters on blank manufacturing.

Charles,
Another good read would be "Blanks Characteristics" by Emory Harry. [www.rodbuildingtutorials.com]
