They compare nicely. It all depends on the particular taper and feel you prefer, but in terms of performance and quality the RX8 certainly do not take a back seat to either of those you mention. Some even like them better.

I gree with Tom, as far as performance and quality they stack right up there with anyone else. They are a little fast for my personal taste/skill but I am not an over achiever with a fly rod. I have built them for guys that are much more serious about it than I am and they seem to love them.

The RX8+ is a very fast rod and for those who prefer that type of casting action they are among the very best! Many who test cast them at last years ICRBE were uniformly impressed.

I do not work for Batson, or for a fact for anybody except my wife.

Rob,

The four piece RX8+ fly rod that I built has the best ferrules of any fly rod I've handled. The rod sections go together smoothly, and they disassemble just as smoothly at the end of a fishing day. To me the RX8+ fly rod has a fast action, I reserve fast action for other fly rods.

Too me, the RX8+ is one of the best blanks made. It compares favorably with any of the Sage, GLoomis, Scott or St. Croix blanks. I agree it is a fast action rod, but it is very deceptive in feel compared to a lot of fast rods. I would call the feel medium fast, but it will really shoot line. Don't confuse it with the RX8 blank, they are totally different (as are the prices).

The RX7+ blanks aren't too shabby either.
