Gudebrod #521 HT - Metallic Purple

I picked up a spool of the purple Gudebrod #521 HT Metallic in October 'cause it was purty (and in the discount bin). While I was looking for wrap ideas, I came across a number of posts warning that the thread quickly discolors in sunlight.

I decided to do an experiment - I set the spool in a sunny window and promptly forgot about it. I checked it today, and after 2 + months it looks to be the same color - definitely hasn't changed to the pewter look that was previously reported.

My question - what are others' experiences with this? Specifically any underwraps, what type of finish, CP? Has anyone used it with acceptable results?

I'm going to do a few test wraps, finish them, and . I only have FC lite on hand, but I'll try to find some threadmaster, use some CP on some, maybe make some underwraps. Possibly do a wrap or two and keep them out of the sun. Any other combinations I'm missing?

Thanks

After about 1 year my Purple HT Metallic faded to silver. This happened on several rods. Some had color preserver, some didn't. Finishes used were U40, Classic Coal, and Threadmaster. The purple was used as trim, under, and over wraps. Deco wraps too.

All six of my personal surf rods are Purple HT over Gold HT. It takes a while but sooner or later it does turn to a Pewter color. Does not matter what you do
