Rod Building Class for friends

Hello,

My name is Norm and I am thinking about teaching a rod building class again which I have not done for 25 years.
Mentioned to some friends that I had done this........now being urged to get it going again!
I used to get my parts from Dale Clemens and the catalog he used to send out.
Boy! Things have sure went up and all the new manufactures of rod blanks!
Any suggestions how to get reasonable priced parts .....say in the 5 to 10 people range for $ discounts etc like the old days??
Thanks

Almost everything in the rod building business is discounted these days - dealer margins are far, far less than at any time in rod building history. You're just looking at the normal inflation which has occurred in the 25 years you've been away from the craft.

There are plenty of reasonably priced rod kits and related components for use in classes. Spend a little time looking at the websites of some of the sponsors and you can find about anything you would need for teaching a class at a reasonable price.

Mud Hole Custom Tackle has a complete education instructional kit and education programs for schools, clubs and groups. Take a look at:

While we don't make 'special deals" like the old days, if you qualify we think you'll find standard pricing for our education program more than satisfactory for the value received and you'll have confidence knowing it's all backed by the largest supplier in the business. If you are interested call and ask for Todd after the holidays, thanks.

Regards.

I have not found the discounts you mention that Tom mentions. As a matter of fact, after checking the past invoices of the prices, they have risen significantly, whether justified or not. I realize that over time prices rise, but I would think many of the items would not have increased as much as they have.

Also take a gander at the Batson Enterprises website. Specificly "Baston University". They have complete class kits.

Not that it isn't a great project I believe Batson's Rodbuilding 101 is more geared towards rodbuilding in the schools, training instructors how to teach kids, and being able to provide afordable options for kids to learn to build rods. I could be wrong so don't bet the farm on that. Thats just the way I understood it.
