Has anyone ever built on a wild river blank? Just wondering what they thought of them? Re: wild river blanks

Seem to be OK but after using a couple I decided to just stay with the name brands. Prices are so low on so many blanks anymore that you do not need to go to a little known house brand to get good performance for what amounts to very little money. Nothing wrong with it if you do but whatever you are looking for is probably being sold by a major maker right now for not very much money. Almost everybody has a product line these days that offers top notch performance at fairly low prices. Re: wild river blanks

The St Croix blanks are pretty nice, developed in the midwest so they should do ok there. Don't like the 7 1/2 ft 6 to 12 lb blank, the tip is to stiff. I prefer building on the Batson and Lamiglas blanks.
Haven't tried any of the higher end St Croix salmon/steelhead blanks. Don't see the rods or blanks much here the the Pacific NW. Re: wild river blanks

Jason,
I have built quite a few rods on the Wild river blanks. After talking to Wally at wild river, he thought that these blanks were essentially a Fenwick blank that was rolled at a plant in the US. These rods are a fine moderate action blank that can work quite well for some applications. The price is such that you can build one up and reach your own conclusion. Take care Roger Re: wild river blanks

Fenwick has not made any blanks for themselves in over 20 years now. They are part of the former Pure Fishing corporation and their blanks are made in the orient.
