Need info on graphite rod please.

I have a few graphite blanks from a few co. and all are dark gray with wave ribbs (like a earthworm...) when in the sun. In stores I have seen rods (ready made) from Abu and Okuma that are IM-8 graphite but the rods are dull jet black in color, not dark gray. Can some body tell me the difference please and where I can find the black blanks? Thank you.

Most of the Sponsors on the left sell both the flat black and the clear graphite. The clear graphite blanks have not been painted, the black ones have. The blanks you have that have ribs like an earth worm have not been painted, maybe just clear coat , if they are shiny. Below is a photo of one called a Seeker that is clear graphite in the butt section and painted glossy black in the tip section. A powerful blank that has ribs like a starving dog !

Thanks for the info, did not know about the paint job.
I have the Seeker CJB90F with black E-glass on top. Have looked at the sponsors on the left but had a hard time finding a flat black, 100% graphite blanks. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks.

I've bought graphite blanks in a matt black finish similar to what was popular in the G Loomis GL3 blanks from Angler's Workshop over the years. Swampland has some matt black Castaway blanks also I think.

I have gotten some flat black blanks from Lamglas in the International Fresh Water series from Mudhole but many others on the left also carry them.
