During what period of time were bamboo fly rods made with rings danging from keepers instead of guides?

Mid to late 1800's to early 1900's, perhaps as late as the 1920's in some cases.

Where can I get those rings. My brother gave me one of those rods about five years ageo. Its a 3pc,12ft, and has 2 tips.Needs to be rebuilt, its in rough shape. All pieces are held in a in a form fitted holder. NO case or sock. All the windings are frayed.
Sorry I jumped in here, but this is the first i've seen on this topic.
Thank you,
Dennis J. Danku

Thank you Chris and Jay,I did'nt think Netcraft would have something to replace those rings. I'm hoping I could stay within the period of creation for the hardware. Black and red silk I have. Again, Thank you to both of you guys and may Santa be good to you.

What Jann's has is actually a hook keeper, but the design and parts are very similar to the ring and clasp line guides. You could make do with those or attempt to fabricate your own using those rings and making your own straps.

Dennis,
I'd give Rick of Rick's Rods a call, 303.778.7911. He buys and sells old bamboo rods, and he has a treasure trove of old parts. He's a friendly, helpful guy, with a lot of knowledge .
Good Luck!
George

I would get it checked before you rebuild it. Lots of times things are more valuable in unrestored condition.
Good luck with a cool peice of history.

Stan, I've had it checked and dated about three years ago by a guy that deals in antique fly rods. Basically he said the same thing as Tom,(1890 - 1905). He had about four on display in pristene condition and was only asking about $190.Mine has no markings or builders info on it and I have not seen another rod like it so I dont know its true value. I can post pictures if it would help.
Thank you,
Dennis J. Danku
