Im wanting to try these guides after Ive read quite a few posts on them. What is the best quality insert? I noticed the Minima 4 has 4 options for insert type.
Does the size 6 top match up with 6 single foot guide as far as frame height is concerned? Re: Minima 4 Insert Type?

The inserts are all pretty much the same SS ring on the Minima's. The difference is in the coating. Is there enough performance difference just by changing coatings - I don't really know.
Yes - the #6 top matches nice with the #6 guides. Try them - you'll like em! Re: Minima 4 Insert Type?

What insert have you been using? I am just curious if the gold coating or chrome coating on the insert will wear off with a dirty flyline going through it. Re: Minima 4 Insert Type?

I doubt anyone has had these on their rods long enough to know. It's certainly not going to happen over a period of a few months.

FYI, be prepared to pay almost 4 times as much for the "coatings" over the price of the hard chrome. I'm just guessing, but I believe these coatings are applied in the same fashion as powder coating is done. Correct me if I'm wrong. Still, I really like the looks of the dark titanium (almost black), but I don't really believe that there's any performance upgrade on these over the hard chrome. It's just for looks.
