Well guys have finished my first rod pending the decals - and have started my first build for someone else, a beautiful spinning rod for my father for Xmas. I will have to post pictures when I am done. Wish I had made this one for myself. Anyways - my next rod will be for myself. I am looking to make a baitcasting rod specifically designed to throw crankbaits and lipless baits - such as a Red Eye Shad. Looking for a blank that will provide the sensitivity and action, but also give me the backbone to bring in some of the tough river smallies I catch. What are your suggestions on a blank for crankbaiting. Re: New Crankbait Rod Build

Batson RX7 CB70MH or IP844. Perfect for lipless baits Re: New Crankbait Rod Build

For med. to large cranks and 3/8 oz. or larger traps, I use a 3C70MHM. I love it. It has plenty of butt power, but will bend deep on a hookup. Re: New Crankbait Rod Build

Jay,
You are in luck - the new MHX Crankbait Blanks were just released and are now in stock! These blanks were designed specifically for crankbait fishing (many other manufacturers just cross over existing blanks and call them crankbait banks - not the MHX - they were designed from scratch to be just a crankbait blank). So not only do you get a purpose and application specific design blank, you get an MHX blank that features: 1. Only available to Custom Rod Builders. 2. Features an individualized transferable serial number. 3. Passes a 7 point Quality Control standard. 4. Limited Lifetime Warranty. 5. Application Specific Blanks. 6. Value priced and backed by the largest rod component company in the world. Read more about them by viewing the link below (the CB models under the Blend heading): [www.mudhole.com] Read more about the MHX blanks and kits at: [www.mudhole.com] Don't just take our work for it, read some reviews of actual rod builders who have used the MHX blanks: [www.mudhole.com] If your not completely satisfied with the blank - just return it and we'll give you a complete refund! We'll hope you will try one today and join the thousands of other rod builders around the world who understand and benefit from the MHX difference. Regards. Can't wait to throw cranks/ traps on the 8' Castaway I got form Swampland! It's the 964 I believe, MHM with lots of flex and appears to have good power as well. Too bad I have to wait for the ice to melt off the lakes... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
