rebuilding steel rod

I’m rebuilding several old casting rods, (metal blanks).
One had the guides soldered on, the other used copper wire.
Would like to use thread ,wondering if the thread would hold up?
Mega thanks for any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes. thread will hold up but it won't be original. Not that these rods had a great deal of monetary value, but you will lose that originality.
