Epoxy Question

I'm pretty new to rod building and have a question I can't seem to find an answer to.
What is the difference between high and lite build epoxy? I've googled it, searched forums, and even emailed Flex Coat and didn't get an answer.
I'm thinking it must be something that should be self evident or an answer would be easier to find. LOL. Is it the cured height? Cure time? Viscosity? What am I missing?

Viscosity mostly. It's thinner and requires more applications or coats in order to build up the same depth that a regular or high build version can with just one.

High Build epoxy can be put on thinly, but the "Lite" versions cannot be applied heavily.

Get the high build, then if you don't like the heavy coat, you can just warm up the high build and lower the viscosity like lite build.

Thanks Tom. What application would you need the lite build if you can apply the high build with a thin coat? Is it more of a user preference?

I don't need it. I can do about anything with the High Build that I want. But others prefer the Lite. It's a matter of personal preference.

Ron,

If you warm up the stuff to make it thinner, you also greatly reduce its pot life. Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks Gentlemen. I've only used high build so far and not had any problems (with function... looks maybe:-). Was mostly curious about the difference of the lite.
Thanks again guys!

I myself like thinner coats. they will release bubbles more easily and flow better. A faster turning will help to hold a thicker or heaver coat. warming the finish will also give it a shorter pot life or it will dry faster.
