Wrapping the foot of the guide

Alright guys i have never really had this problem but I am wrapping some guides on my blank and I am having a little issue with the single foot side of the larger double footed new Fuji K series guide. It has a pear shape on the foot toward the single leg that goes up to the Ring brace. The point of where it narrows, my thread tends to run down toward the single brace creating some holes in the wrap. I tried to burnish it but the thread it still will not move up.
Am I suppose to go past that point. I would really appreciate your quick input so that I may finish this rod tonite. Thanks

Rick,
The solution is really quite simple.
Start the wrap on the rod - not the guide. Put on the necessary wraps on the blank and then work up the blank.
Be ready to terminate the wrap, once the guide foot is just off the blank. As you wrap, keep all of the wraps tight and you will be fine.
If you start to find wraps tumbling over themselves, you are likely trying to wrap too far up the guide foot.
Basically you should only be wrapping the guide foot, where the guide foot is still in contact with the blank.

Take care
Roger

Thanks Roger, I actually saw a photo and I realized that I was going too far. Most everyone wraps to the end of the pear shape. Thanks...

Rick,
I never saw written instructions, but I always wrap past the point you describe as the "pear" shape. Actually it is a "barb" that when you wrap beyond it secures the wrap. You just have to wrap a few more turns on the blank and you can pack against the backside of the barb.

I generally just lightly taper the guide and the transition is a lot easier to make and still acts a a holding feature
