Has anyone built on this this blank? What for and how do you like it? I'm considering it for a light-to-medium duty plugging rod for the surf.
It's rated at 1-4 ounces -- where is it's sweet spot? Its butt diameter, and especially tip size, seem a little small for what it's supposed to throw -- any concerns? Thanks. Bilgee Re: AmTak AXSU100M-2 blank

Yup! My first and only surf rod so far! I find the sweet spot is between 2 and 3 oz, it launches metals in that range very nicely! I tried a lighter wood plug under 2oz (1.5 or 1.75oz?) and it cast OK, but I didn't get a ton of distance out of it. I am just starting to get the hang of surf casting, so it may work better in more experienced hands! I had a friend cast it with 2oz lead sinkers and he loved the way it felt and the action. He got the sinker stuck in trees several times and got to pull on the blank pretty good and liked the way it felt. I never tried 4oz with it though. Re: AmTak AXSU100M-2 blank

Its my go to blank for great lakes wire line diver rods if that is any help. Lots of spine, good feel on fish, and doesn't break the bank. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
