Recoils make some noise...Hopkins and Holloway are the factory guides, both snakes and ceramics. I admit, I am a traditionalist and prefer snakes to ceramics on a flyrod, but then I also prefer bamboo to carbon! Re: best guides and sizes for a #5 and #6 sage rpl blank,

Generally for that line weight I would use #2 Recoil single foot titanium for the top 3 guides.
H&H single foots for the remainder. #10 double foot Ceramic and #12 double foot ceramic stripper guide. You may consider a Recoil std size tip top, they are ugly but light. Very good blanks Re: best guides and sizes for a #5 and #6 sage rpl blank,

Check out the PacBay Minnima series of guides. They are light weight and well made. If you prefer ceramic guides the ALPS guides furnished by Batson are an excellent choice. Traditional snake guides require more wrap and epoxy for each guide and add weight to a rod compared to most single foot guides, including ceramics.
