I am planning to build my first micro guide project, I'm planning a 6' 9" casting rod for top water baits. My question is should all guides from the choke guide foreward be the same size,or is the choke guide larger as in the conventional guide layout. I have not decided if I'm going with guides on top or a spiral guide layout. Thanks for all the great info on this forum. Re: Micro Guide Question

There is no "choke" guide on a baitcasting rod.

Tip horizontal or down during lure outbound path - tip down during walk, jerk or twitch - all same size all on top Re: Micro Guide Question

Jeffrey.
More often than not, it's a matter of personal preference. I use one guide per foot of rod length and a wrapped on single foot for the tip-top. What works best for me is “all on topâ€, Fuji TLSG’s 5.5 (butt guide), 4.0, then 3.5’s to the tip. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/30/2009 04:19PM by jim spooner.
