Dont ask how. But I managed to get rubbing alcohol on a wrap, wiped it off and let it dry, and tried to put the finish coat on, well that didnt work epoxy ran from the alcohol, my question is can I take scotch brite and ruff up the finish and get the epoxy to stick or do I have to remove the wrap and start over, Thanks for any help Re: need advice

A good option is the Dan Craft 10 ft 3 wt FT blanks built as a switch rod. Handles all casts well and works well with 5/6 lines also, Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/29/2009 01:20PM by Spencer Phipps. Re: need advice

In the future, if you think you may have contaminated a wrap ... before applying epoxy, hit it with CP. Better safe than sorry. Re: need advice

Perhaps try de-natured alcohol to clean it. This does not leave any residue. However, will it work for you? I dunno. Just a thought Re: need advice

Scotty,
Actually, if you just let the wrap dry well, the finish will be just fine. The only reason that you had an issue with the finish was that the alcohol was not completely dry before applying the finish. Of course it wouldn't hurt to use a bit of scotchbrite to rough it up. If you have any 2nd thoughts at all, go ahead and remove the guide, wipe down the blank well and rewrap. Take care Roger Re: need advice

Rough up the wrap? really? That would be assuming there was already a coat of finish on it, right? I can see me going at the unfinished wrap with a scotchbrite then finishing and winding up with a bottle brush...Kip Re: need advice

It is only one guide. If you think you will have trouble Re wrap. Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
