I was not expecting my new Thomas and Thomas blank to come without a decal or identification already on the blank (as per Sage). My handwriting stinks and I’m not sure I want to have custom decals made up because I only build four or five rods a year. Is there another method or system of identifying a rod type that I’m not aware of? Long after I’m dead and gone how are my grand kids going to know what fly rod they have in their hand? The blank should have come with a decal. Contact T&T and ask them for one. If it is indeed a T&T blank, they will be happy to provide you with the decal. The last ones I saw were peel and stick, but I really don't know what they're using these days.

You can have Decal Connection make you one decal. It's a little more, but you can pick font style, color, etc. - make it match and look classy. ----------------- AD Re: Rod identification problem

I actually picked up the blank at the factory after purchasing it from Mudhole. The people there were very friendly and gave me a quick tour of the factory. It was refreshing to learn that my construction methods are along the same lines as big dollar rod makers. I just assumed that someone at their factory hand wrote the T&T name and id’s on the rods. I just sent an email to T&T requesting the decal, waiting for a reply. Re: Rod identification problem

Sage blanks come with the identification silk screened on the blank. Re: Rod identification problem

Peter,
Another option is to use a friend or an associate - who has excellent writing - label the rod. My handwriting is the same as yours - not good - so my wife does all of my rod labeling. Take care Roger Re: Rod identification problem

For the sake of any future warranty claim, you need the actual T&T decal. Even if you don't apply it to the rod, you need it tucked back so it can returned along with the rod if the need should ever arise.

As a FYI to anyone building on Thomas and Thomas in the future here is the reply that I got back from the T&T sales rep. regarding the decal and warranty card.
"The factory does not send decals with blanks at this point. I do have a few and will mail one to your attention. Blanks do not receive warranty cards. In the event of a repair follow the same procedure outlined on our web-site." Best Regards Peter White Lyme, CT Re: Rod identification problem

I wouldn't let the lack of a decal prevent you from purchasing t&t blank I put one together last year and it is a wonderfully rod. My blank did come with a decal but I never apply them anyway. Jut my. 02$ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
