I am consideirng using acrylic paint for labeling a Baston RX8 rod. How do you think the acrylic will react with FC or TM finish? Your thoughts....

If it's dry, there should be no problem. Epoxies don't contain solvents. But try it on a scrap piece of blank just the same. Worst case scenario is that you'll have to seal it with some CP or a fixative spray.

I had an artist hand paint a fish character on a rod for me. I failed to ask it was
acrylic, water, or oil based paint but he told me the finish would not lift the paint
and he was right.

I just used some on a new Fly rod and to not take any chances I gave it a light spray of Krylon Fixative before I put on the finish. Worked great.
