Yes on the eva to eva : use a thicker layer rodbond than cork to cork. Re: gluing together grips

If you plan to shape or turn it, you won't like RodBond between pieces of EVA. Use Weldwood Contact Cement. It makes a seamless joint between the EVA pieces.

Ridge,
If you find a good glue for gluing plastic to anything, let me know. I have tried dozens of different types of glue and have found nothing to work very well Take care Roger Re: gluing together grips

I use Rod Bond for cork and composite cork to acrylics (plastic) and it works very well for me ... no issues at all. Re: gluing together grips

Make sure that the plastic has a water break freee surface and Rod Bond or Ultimate gel will work fine. I scuff/sand my plastic/acrylic and put a thin coat of adhesive on both surfaces that are being glued and clamp tightly Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! can you use the foam being sold at craft stores like michaels or joans as accents rather than use the eva sold by mudhole?
is there a difference in eva compared to foam at michaels? Re: gluing together grips

Their is a big difference in what it's made of but I use the craft foam alot for trim rings. Besides the trhin sheets, I buy the thicker pieces that are sold for making door hangers and stuff The thing with foam or EVA is that you pretty much have to use contact cement to glue it to anything.
One tip I got from from Billy V. is to glue several of the thin sheets together in patterns that you might use often ( for instance a sheet of blue between 2 sheets of green) and just cut out rings with a hole saw as you need them. In the craft section of Walmart, they sell a very inexpensive multipack of thinner foam sheets ... a real rainbow of colors. It is a GREAT buy for doing EVA bands. Re: gluing together grips

I have been glueing eva pieces for about 30 years and I can tell you from my experience that Contact Cement is the best thing to use because it will not leave a HARD SEAM. It is also impervious to salt water and one of the strongest bonds you can use for foam grips. An example of how strong it is a rod I made for someone dropped it overboard while fishing in sub freezing weather and it laid on the bottom of the Ocean for almost six months and was recovered by another fisherman. It had 432 glued joints and the rod grip is still intact and in perfect condition. I have used that rod at seminars to demonstrate the strength of the cement. Re: gluing together grips

When I glue plastic to cork I drill small holes through the plastic ring, about 5 of them in a circle, fairly close to the blank. I have had plastic trim inserts break loose from the Rod Bond. I always rough up the gluing surface of the plastic ring and it breaks loose anyway. The drilled holes will allow the Rod Bond to make a cork to cork bond and will prevent the Rod Bond from breaking loose from the plastic. I have separated a grip at the plastic trim ring when taking it off the mandrel after shaping. It doesn't happen anymore. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: gluing together grips
