How does one go about making "invisible" wraps on a bamboo rod? Re: Invisible wraps

White regular nylon or silk thread and no CP. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Invisible wraps

Be careful with nylon, it many times will NOT go completely clear. Silk is the best option and use either varnish or epoxy thinned to water consistency for the first coat. Because you are going to want the wraps to disappear, it is not necessary to pack them tightly together, in fact a little space allows any bubbles to escape from under or in the thread.''If you have not done it before, it is best to experiment to find your optimal solution Re: Invisible wraps

Great responses. I've been wanting to try that but wasn't sure how to go about it. Re: Invisible wraps

Bill Stevens, were you sucessful in finding out how Castaway was able to get the wraps to be completely invisible on their camo rod?

I've had the best results on bamboo rods with YLI size 100 in Natural(I don't have the number anymore, sorry), coated with FlexCoatLite thinned at least 1/3 with denatured alcohol.
