Without spoiling the surprise for those that haven't gotten theirs yet I just want to say that it is the constant innovation of new techniques and the adaptation of techniques from other disciplines into custom rod building that keeps Rodmaker Magazine Numero Uno!
I had no idea that many metal parts are not actually machined and that you can make them with nothing more than a wood lathe and a long steel leverage bar. This is a revelation for me and this weekend I plan to get started making some caps and winding checks. I know it will take a little practice with the technique on my end but this is something I just have to try. It would be nice to have this technique on the program at the ICRBE in February. Way to go Rodmaker! Re: Rodmaker scores again!

you just ruined it!
it's like telli9ng us about a movie where you wont go into details but you'd say the actor died in the end. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/29/2009 09:54AM by ridge orjalesa. Re: Rodmaker scores again!

Ken,
You're going to find the technique is really addictive, even more so than rod building or wood turning. The speed with which you can fabricate your own metal parts is really amazing. Once you get the hang of it, it takes only a few seconds to make a butt cap, hosel, winding check, tuna block, etc. Do heed the cautions outlined in the article and it won't hurt to check out some of the further informational resources I've listed for you in the article. ................
