I have personally watched 2 of these rods explode under load without high sticking, over loading or other abuse. Needless to say I have not been impressed with the blanks. I just purchased 2 of Mike Pedersons Riley rod blanks to build and sell or use. In my opinion they are much better blanks than the torque blanks. I am friends with a tackle rep that distributes the torques and he said that they have problems with many of there blanks breaking without apparent cause. Shakespeare is supposed to be coming out with a jig rod that is virtually indestructable according to the same tackle distributor friend. Maybe some of those blanks will hit the market? There jig rod is made with cheap components but will sell for roughly half the cost of the torques. If the blanks are that good and the price point that low custom builders and there customers could really benefit from access to the blanks.
By the way I love this site and appreciate all the information exchanged here. This is my first post and I hope it helps a fraction as much as numerous posts have helped me. MM Re: Penn torque rod
