Why does it say in the description it can be chucked up in a drill for heavy duty reaming, then at the bottom it say do not ream under power due to heat?

The caution about the power reaming is only for the smallest model. I'll check into that.

I've got one and it is a dang good reamer.

Like the Toby Keith song, "Get ya some!!"

The smallest Batson "Dream Reamer" has the same warning/issue. The littlest is of such a small diameter that heat buildup is pretty quick and there is enough flex that the glass will just separate due to the torque/heat combination.

I know this since I was one of the early owners of the product AND one of the first to destroy one. Batson was kind enough to replace it, since it wasn't a known/announced issue at the time.

Definitely don't put the little one in a drill ... it is pretty dangerous when they blow up.

Is this an improvement over the 'Dream reamer' by Batson? If yes, how is it better ? Or are they very similar and it's just down to price?

Thanks,
Mo

I make my own, using the grit tape. It is said the loose grit will come off when reaming and scratch the blank when sliding the handles down. MHO MudHole also sells the grit tape.

I goofed a Rainshadow XST1085 last week doing just that! Make sure you blow hard! Having said that I love my reamers but I use the handle. I chucked it once but I feel more comfortable with the intimate contact of hand to reamer. Felt like I could get off center with the slightest mistake using the drill motor.

Pretty sure I have mentioned this on here before, but raid the kitchen and grab a bottle brush. Blank scratching days over! I also trimmed the bristles on mine to stiffen them. A quick one-two after tapping and blowing out the grip/ring, and any loose grit is swept out.
