I was just wondering what everyone thought about Gary Loomis's new blanks? Also if anyone had any pictures of what the blanks look like? Re: North Fork Blanks

They are naked/bare graphite. They just started shipping this past week so I doubt many have had the chance to actually build and use one, yet.

What does bare graphite look like? Black, gray, white? Re: North Fork Blanks

Derec—You're not the first one to ask that (and thanks, Tom and Jim, for taking the time to answer—"gray satin," I like that). There is a shot in the NFC catalog, but the web version of the catalog is rather low-res. I'll get a good, close-up shot of a production-finished blank posted on the NFC blog this coming week.

Derec
In August I wrapped around a hundred spinning rods for a special project Gary Loomis was doing with his new blanks. I think that when people start getting their hands on his new blanks they will be pleased. The actions are reminiscent of his original blanks, that we all loved, built with newer lighter materials. Gary tells a story of a contest held one day between his wife, Susie and the top G.Loomis wrapper. The competition was to see who could wrap the most blanks (this was 20 years ago). Each were provided with a stack of two piece fly rods with cork reamed and tip tops glued. I don't know who won, (and Susie is too modest to give me an answer) but both of them wrapped over 100 rods.
