white wrap

Hello,

I am having a decal made that has some color black in it. I am told that it will fade into the color of the blank and mostly dissapear. (glossy black/grey blank).
It has been suggested using a white background for the decal or white underwrap. So in testing for a white underwrap, the blank still shows through the wrap a little. So should i wrap on top of the first wrap with another wrap of white?? if so, do i use the same thread size for both wraps??

Use NCP white and pack the threads tightly. Use CP and then apply a thin coat of epoxy. That should provide you with a nice, bright white background.

Silver J Metallic thread and a coat of color preserver where the decal is to be placed. Then wrap sz A NCP white and pack real good then a coat of color preserver than light coat of finish. Wait until it dries completely tack free then apply your decal and finish as normal. That is about the whitest background you'll get.

The epoxy ramp and foregrip area on this rod were easy to complete. I simply sprayed a couple of light coats of Krylon white, let dry and followed up with a white size A wrap.
